A girl was stabbed “after a class with a group of boys” in the middle of the city fighting for life
A girl is fighting for her life tonight after being stabbed in Liverpool city centre.
Police this evening cordoned off a large part of Church Street and the surrounding area After the girl was stabbed around 8.39 pm.
The victim is believed to have been with friends in Church Alley, near a busy shopping street, when what police described as a “verbal argument” broke out with a group of boys. It is believed that one of the boys assaulted the girl and it is believed that they fled the scene.
The police said her family is with her in the hospital, in a statement describing her condition as critical. The age of the girl was not mentioned in the initial statement.
Church Street and Church Alley have been cordoned off, and many surrounding streets have been closed. The cordon reportedly extended to Hanover Street.
Several police cars remained at the scene this evening as investigations continued.
