A fatal driver hits a 73-year-old pedestrian in Rosemount – Twin Cities

A 73-year-old pedestrian died after being run over by a driver in Rosemount on Wednesday afternoon.

Rosemount Police were called to the intersection of 155th Street and Chippendale Street at approximately 5 p.m. based on a report of a car and pedestrian crash.

Police found an unresponsive man north of the intersection. First responders attempted life-saving measures and an air medical transport helicopter responded. However, the man was declared dead at the scene.

The man’s identity has not been released yet, pending family notification and Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s confirmation.

Police believe the man was a Rosemount resident.

A 32-year-old man who was driving the car remained at the scene and was cooperating with the police. No arrests were made.

An eyewitness told the police that they almost hit the man as well. They said they could not see him because he was wearing dark clothes, according to police.

The Minnesota State Patrol is helping to rebuild the accident.
