SEATAC, WASH – A cell phone of a passenger on an Alaska Airlines jet caught fire when the plane landed at C-Tech International Airport, forcing crews to install evacuation slides to unload everyone.

A spokesman for Alaska Airlines was quoted as saying that crew members on a flight from New Orleans to Seattle used a battery containment bag Monday evening.

The haze in the cabin forced crew to use the plane’s evacuation slides for passengers, KOMO-TV reported.

The airport said in a tweet that passengers were taken to the terminal by bus and some suffered minor injuries. Como TV reported that the flight had 128 passengers and six crew members on board.
