Witnesses said at least two cars were seen chasing each other, and someone in one of the cars displayed a gun — and shot out the window, according to Chicago Police Patrol Chief Brian McDermott.

McDermott said there were several crime scenes between the 800 block of North Milwaukee Street — on Chicago Avenue — and 600 of West Kinzie Street more than half a mile away.

Crime scenes were seen in Milwaukee, Grand Avenues and Halstead Street, and the Southeast complex on Milwaukee Avenue and Hubbard Street.

McDermott reported that one of the shooting victims was a possible suspect, and that four were innocent bystanders.

Police said a 25-year-old man was hit in the buttocks, a 27-year-old man was hit in the arm, a 29-year-old man was hit in the back, and a 30-year-old woman was injured. He had a leg wound, and a 48-year-old man was shot in the leg.

The 29-year-old was in critical condition. The other victims are in good condition.

All of the victims were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital except for the 27-year-old, who was taken to Stroeger Hospital in Cook County.
McDermott said officers assisted at least one victim.

A video from the Citizen app showed an ambulance and a fire engine in one of the scenes, along with several police cars.

“I had just finished my way—delivering—and driving that way. I look to the left, I see two men with automatic rifles hanging outside the door, just shooting,” said one witness.

That guy said his tire had been shot.

The rear windshield of the car was also shattered. The nearby streets were blocked off by the police, and it was like a maze walking around after the shooting.
